Super Car

Just came across this schematic of "CARDILLAC ONE"( The ride of the President of the United state of America) and wanted to get your take on it. It is a masterpiece of the latest technologies.

What do you think about this "super car"?

Charge your phone faster

Sometimes you battery get so low and you need to charge it up quickly and be on your way. You don't mind gaining a little percentage of charge.

Well, I guess you best bet is to switch of the phone and let it charge. That works fine. But did you know a little percentage is lost switching of the phone and on. (yeeeaaaah)

So a more conservative way is to but the phone in flight (airplane) mode. Or turning Mobile network off (Blackberry users)

Putting your phone into airplane mode turns off all of the wireless radios inside, so while you won't be able to receive calls, use data, or use GPS, you also won't be fighting background processes that use those radios for power while your phone is plugged in. The end result is your phone will charge a little faster, and you'll walk away with a bit more power in your battery than you would otherwise.

Of course, you could get a similar effect by just turning your phone off (sans power required to shut down/start up), but this is a bit easier.

Let's know what you think....

Save that Wet Phone

One experience we hate so much is having our phones fall into water (Yes, I know you felt bad).
When this happens, the first and instinctive action is to remove the battery and place the phone under the sun to dry. Hmmmm!!!, this of course is what a guy would do. But I think a lady would cry her eyes out first. (My sentiment).

But drying the phone in sunlight means causing more harm to the phone.

Here is a more economical way of trying to rescue and save the phone;

1. Quickly take the phone out of water. ( Avoid the temptation of pressing the buttons to see if it still works)

2. Remove the battery and SD cards (memory card), SIM cards and every other attachments. [If the phone has a non-replaceable battery like the iPhone, then this is not an option. Just turn it off].

3 Dry the phone with a towel.

4. Dip the phone into a bowel of rice. (Whaaaaat?). Oh Yes, you read that correctly.

Rice is a good desiccant material and has good hygroscopic properties (That is, it tends to attract moisture to itself and absorb them). Silica gel is also another example,

5. After a while bring your phone out and replace battery. (Close your eyes and pray).

6. Turn it on. (wooow!!!!, it's working)

Share these and let's know how it works. Suggest other tips you may have.

Technical Essentials Part 1

Some years ago in the university, storing microphone cables and wires properly for a long time without damaging them was a major challenge. Also identifying the appropriate cords for certain equipment was also an issue.
If you need to store cords properly and identify them easily, here's my cheap suggestion : You could use the toilet paper rolls(the hard part). You will not only be reducing waste but you will be helping out. The name and condition of the cord could easily be written on the roll for proper identification. this will save you time when setting-up.
This will come in handy especially if you always roll-up your wires after use and move them about. It is also a very cheap technique.

Learning the hard way: "Token"

On a very rainy afternoon I walked into GTB to subscribe for internet banking. Full of confidence I filled out the form presented to me and Ignorantly Ticked the option "Token". I waited for my transaction to be processed. After a while I was called, filled out a register and was presented with my pass-code for internet banking and a small device.
I have been seeing that device but never knew the name. I was excited unaware of a punch awaiting me.
I got home and received a debit alert of N2100  for "Token" collected and N500 as VAT.  I was stunned.
But after a while I consoled myself and appreciated my token.
LESSON: Please be careful what you tick especially in banks. Feel free to ask ALL THINGS.

There is a hype about Windows8. The frenzy is because it new and seems dynamic. But the question remains: Do I need Windows 8 for my desktop or laptop?. That question is for individuals to answer. But first what is Windows 8?

Windows 8 is an operating system produced by Microsoft for use on tablets, personal computers, and laptops. Windows 8 is a version of the Microsoft Windows operating system, produced by Microsoft for use on personal computers, including home and business desktops, laptops, tablets, and home theater PCs. Development of Windows 8 started before the release of its predecessor, Windows 7, in 2009. The operating system was released to manufacturing on August 1, 2012, and was released for general availability on October 26, 2012. Windows 8 introduces significant changes to the operating system's platform, primarily focused towards improving its user experience on mobile devices such as tablets to better compete with other mobile operating systems like Android and Apple's iOS. Windows 8 introduces a new touch-friendly shell and user interface based on Microsoft's 'Metro' design language, featuring a new Start screen with a grid of dynamically updating tile...
